University College of the Fraser Valley Welcomes Mennonite
Writers
On November 24, Roxanne and several other writers gathered at the University House on
Abbotsford's UCFV campus to read from their works, collected in the anthology Half in the
Sun. Edited by Elsie Neufeld, with forward by Sharon Butala, this anthology is the first to
focus on BC writers of Mennonite heritage. The collection, which includes poetry, fiction
and non-fiction, has already received critical acclaim.
Here's what one reviewer had to say about Roxanne's contribution to the fiction portion:
"Roxanne Willems Snopek’s “Two Steps Forward” depicts a young, single mother’s self-
analysis as she struggles to raise her little son, who has been driven into autistic silence by
her feud with her parents. In spite of its brevity, this tightly woven story reveals a rich nexus
of underlying meaning."

After the interesting and educational experience of being part of Altitude Publishing's demise, Roxanne has taken the rights to her
books and joined the Heritage House Publishing group. So far, Heritage has released the brand-new More Great Dog Stories, and has
re-issued two of Roxanne's other books with beautiful new covers and updated content. What do you think?
